Me too. In 2015, I longed to be more consistent in prayer. I craved a structured prayer journal that would prompt me to actually follow through when I said, "I'll pray for you."
As I learned and read about prayer, I began to recognize that one powerful way to pray is praying scripture. There's just one problem: how do we pray scripture and claim God's promises if we don't know them?!
So I set out to create a journal that would inspire creative scripture memorization while also helping me pray intentionally. I never intended to sell it, but friends encouraged me to share this valuable tool with others. And that's how The Lettering Prayer Journal® was born!

With love and lettering,
God loves to help His children, but the Bible is clear that He wants us to ask specifically. "What would you like me to do for you?" Jesus asked the blind man in Mark 10:51, even though it's obvious that he is blind and wants to see! "God doesn't answer vague prayers," wrote Mark Batterson in "The Circle Maker." We can ask in detail with confidence!
"You do not have, because you do not ask." -James 4:2
God has given us so much, but often as soon as the need is met, we move on. And we forget to recognize and thank God for answered prayer. Sometimes this lack of recognition leads us to being ungrateful or bitter. The Lettering Prayer Journal has a place to mark prayers that are answered and keep a record of it.
"Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart." -Colossians 4:2
When you look back over time at the prayers God has answered and how He has guided your life, your faith will be strengthened. You'll pray bolder prayers and ask God for bigger things because you've seen Him show up.
"Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power." -Psalm 145:4
First of all, lettering is FUN! But lettering is also a tool for learning and an instrument for worship. When you hand letter a scripture, you are forced to slow down and go letter by letter, word by word, which increases your ability to remember the words longer. The process also gives you time to meditate on the verse and worship as you go. It's an effective way to saturate your heart and mind with truth.Buy now
After filling up an entire Lettering Prayer Journal, I can say with confidence that documenting my prayers in this way has significantly changed my prayer life. I especially love the sections which help me pray with intention for those I love, those in my local community, and the world. It helps take my focus off of just what I want and causes me to focus on the needs of others.
My journal is filled with prayers that have since been answered, a testament to God's faithfulness and a reminder of the power of prayer. This journal is a true treasure. ~
Krystal Whitten has thought of everything in this. This journal truly helps me grow in faith and see just how much there is to pray over. I can't say enough good things about this beautiful journal, including it's quality and packaging are so, so good.
You'll enjoy this whether you're into lettering, Illustrated Faith, Bible Journaling or simply just growing in your prayer life. There are even extra pages at the back, lined for notes or journaling AND blank for lettering bonus verses or thoughts. ~
It is not an exaggeration to say that Krystal’s Lettering Prayer Journal has transformed my prayer life! Writing out the well-chosen verses every week or two in a variety of artistic ways imprints them on my mind and heart in ways that just reading them does not.
The categories for prayer have likewise been transformative as I focus first and foremost on praising God for different aspects of His character, often found in the verses, and then on the other categories that she has so aptly listed. I’m nearing the end of my second year of consistent use and enjoyment of this beautiful journal and could not recommend it more highly! ~
The Lettering Prayer Journal® has a flexible weekly layout with 9 intentional categories for prayer (praise, repentance, thanksgiving, equipping, myself, family, friends, sick/grieving, community/world) and an extra space for answered prayer or notes.
We know every day is different. Sometimes you have the luxury of lengthy time with God, but more often, you're struggling to get in 5 minutes. The Lettering Prayer Journal layout is flexible and easy: do it all once a week, or do a little each day. I like to write a little bit in each section on the first day of the week. Then I'll come back the next day and add more, etc. Some people fill it all up at once and refer to it throughout the week as a reminder. You can decide what works for you.
In addition to the prayer sections, there is one scripture prompt each week to hand letter. You may choose to pencil in the verse one day and come back another day to ink it in. The more you look at it and reflect on it, the better you'll remember it.
The journal is not pre-dated, so if you miss a week, no problem. There are 52 weeks total, so if you use it every week, it will last you a full year.
Definitely not! The Lettering Prayer Journal® comes with 20 pages of beginner lettering tutorials and practice pages. You can even print off more pages to keep on practicing. I won't lie to you - you won't become an expert in a week. But anything of value takes time and effort to learn. Plus the learning process is fun! You'll be able to look back on previous weeks and see how you've improved. How encouraging!
You may not think you're creative, dear friend, but you do have a creative side. God made you in His image, and He is the ultimate Creator. Your creativity won't look exactly the same as others because He gave you your own brand of creativity to develop and enjoy. Some days I feel more creative than other days. The point of The Lettering Prayer Journal® is to encourage you to spend time with God through worship in the Word and in prayer.
Go ahead and try it! You might surprise yourself.
Yes indeed. The Lettering Prayer Journal is first and foremost a prayer journal. I've had plenty of people tell me that they're not into hand lettering and they have no interest in learning, but they love this journal because of the thoughtful layout of categories and places for notes. A dear Bible study teacher confessed her prayer time was always short and limited until she got this journal, and it changed her prayer life completely, now spending much more time praying. She doesn't do hand lettering, but she uses the space for writing out scripture and things she wants to remember.
There are 9 total categories. I like to divide them up into 2 sections: "Inner" categories include Praise, Repentance, Thanksgiving, and Equipping. These deal with your inner heart and relationship with God. "Outer" categories include Myself, Family,Friends, Sick/Grieving, Community/World. These deal with specific needs and prompt you to also pray for those around you.
That's ok. The Lettering Prayer Journal was designed to be flexible, so the weeks are not dated. You don't have to worry about falling behind or having unused pages. We don't want your journal to be a source of guilt, but rather something you enjoy doing and look forward to using.
Not sure how the format will work for you? Try it out first. Download a week of prayer pages, print them out, and try it for a week. You'll get a good idea if this is something you like before you buy it.
The printable comes with the 3 weekly prayer pages, one of the coloring pages, and an introduction page with some instructions.
